Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Alabama football head coach Nick Saban addressed the Crimson Tide’s 34-24 loss to the Texas Longhorns at a press conference Saturday night.

“You know it was a test for us,” Saban said. “I told the players at the beginning of the week that this was going to be a test, that we’re going to play a really good team and we’re going to really find out where we are as a team and, um, it’s every It was a test for anybody. It was a test for the coaches, it was a test for me, it was a test for all the players, and we obviously didn’t perform very well.”

The offensive line was pushed forward much of the night. The fine proved costly. The Tide faces new questions after losing two down-to-the-wire games last season.

“It all starts with me, and I obviously let my team down in terms of the way we were able to perform and play,” Saban said.

While Texas ultimately won, Alabama put up a solid fight, with QB Jalen Miller making big plays, both passing and running. He was 14th of 27 passing for 255 yards, including a pair of touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Saban had a vote of confidence in his players and the program for the remainder of the season.

“I believe in these players, these players have worked hard,” Saban said. “There was a great atmosphere in the stadium tonight and I appreciate the fans. They definitely did their job; we didn’t do our job well enough. It all starts with me like I said before, but we “We’re going to do everything we can to try and fix this.”

Next week, the Tide will travel to take over South Florida.
